Riders were dispatched this morning from Wyr with news that some unnamed adventurers had valiantly done battle with a horde of goblins and opened the trade route between Wry and Tannar.
The adventurers who had recently done battle with a gelatinous cube continued to search through the catacombs below the monastery. They found another strange parchment and with the new parchment they were able to determine that the script used was Draconic and might be some kind of prophecy. They located a rather large group of goblins and destroyed them then continued to scour the dungeon.
Sometime later, they located a smaller group of goblins guarding what looked to be the remnants of loot taken during the raids on merchant wagons. After another successful encounter the adventurers decided to take another walk through the ruins to make sure that they left no stone unturned.
While searching the tunnels they found a secret passage that held a small trove of treasure and a couple powerful weapons. After determining what they had found the went back to the road, got their wagon and loaded it up with the loot they had found in the dungeon and returned to the village as heroes.
Khelgar were pleased to see that they had not only returned but had destroyed the bandits and returned the town's goods. Khelgar asked them to return to speak to him in the morning. Then they spoke with Gregor who wanted to know all about their adventure. The adventurers told Gregor about what happened and what they had found. Including, informaiton about a forgotten passage leading to the west. Gregor said that he would like to speak to them in the morning about taking a shipment East.
The adventurers then spoke with Meric the Cleric about their adventures and the strange documents that they had found in the dungeon. Unfortunately, Meric knew nothing about the strange language or symbols; but, suggested that the adventurers might try the island North of Aundair, as the wizards there knew many languages and information about lost and forgotten parchments.
In passing, the adventurers mentioned to Meric that they found a passageway leading far to the West -- it was their belief that the passage connected to another monastery. Meric immediately began asking the adventurers where their loyalties lied and if they had mentioned this tunnel to anyone else. The adventurers convinced Meric that they were loyal to the crown and Meric then suggested that they should keep this information to themselves. The information about a tunnel between kingdoms could be dangerous information.
The party was tired from a long day of traveling so decided to turn in for the night. In the morning Kitiana purchased a suit of Dwarven Plate Mail from Khelgar and then met up with her fellow adventurers in front of the General Store.
Several farmers had gathered at the general store waiting for it to open. For some reason, Gregor was late in opening shop this morning. After politely knocking on the door, the adventurers, and a few nearby farmers, decided to go inside to wake up the shop keeper. Upon entering his house, they found him lying on his bed, seemingly asleep, but a quick inspection found him to be no longer breathing.
The farmers sent for Brother Meric, hoping that he may be able to heal or at least shed some light on the recent demise of Gregor, but the cleric was unable to heal the shop keeper. Meric led a few farmers to wrap Gregor in a sheet and took him away for burial.
The adventurers took this chance to re-stock their supplies and begin planning for the next step in their journey... Would they take a wagon load of goods to Tannar? Go north and search out wizards and scholars to decipher the strange script? The one thing that is sure, wherever they go, adventure will follow.
To be continued...
